We've
got some great travel and learning experiences in store for
the new year.
If
you were lucky enough to find a camera under the Christmas tree,
check out our digital photography classes.
This
summer we will again explore the Weminuche Wilderness on
horseback with Over the Hill Outfitters.
We're
happy to once again offer the summer San Juan Spectacular,
a great mix of mining towns, majestic landscapes, beautiful alpine
wildflowers and we're sure to meet up with a couple of our cowboy
friends. Look for it in early August.
This
fall will be busy with 2 new travel workshops.
We're
in the process of selecting a working ranch right now for a late
September/early October workshop. This will not be a riding experience
like the Weminuche trip. Instead, it will be entirely focused
on photographing cowboys in action, ranch scenes, and horses
and cattle. Hope to have the venue selected by mid February.
Slot
Canyons - Page, Arizona. Mid-October. We'll visit
the famous Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons as well as some
gorgeous but lesser known jewels hidden in the Arizona desert.
Private
Workshops - If you have a group and are interested
in exploring a particular destination, call us. We'd be happy
to put together an unforgettable private photographic workshop
experience for your group.
Digital
Photography Workshop- April 16, 17 and 18, 2010
Stuggling
to become one with your digital camera? Come to the little
red schoohouse in Durango and get schooled!
Students
will learn how to use the camera's controls, work with shutter
speed and aperture for creative effect. Photography discussions
will cover depth of field, freezing and blurring action,
composition and exposure.
Then
we will settle down at the computers and go step
by step through the process of downloading
your images from the
camera,
naming,
editing, archiving, and preparing them both for email
and print. $275.00 per student includes 15 hours
of instruction
and a location shoot.
Western
Wilderness Workshop - July 19-23, 2010
Whoa
nellie! What's this - we're gonna saddle up? You bet.
We will once again ride with Over the Hill Outfitters
to their high camp in the spectacular Weminuche
Wildnerness.
Last
year's trip did not disappoint. One
our workshop adventurers won first place in a photo
contest she snared on the trip. Western Horseman magazine
published two of Chris's images.
This
is a fabulous opportunity to
photograph alpine wildflowers, rugged mountain
landscapes,
waterfalls, glacial
lakes, and,
of course, authentic wranglers and horses.
Our
guides will pamper us with all meals, tents, and sleeping
gear. Don't worry about having to skimp on your camera
kit. Pack horses will carry our gear to camp.
You
need not be an experienced rider to
enjoy this trip. However, please be aware that camp is
at 10,500 feet above sea level
and that we may ascend to as high as 12,500, and the views
are incredible!
The
US Forest Service restricts the number of heartbeats on
a guided pack trip
to 25; this includes horses, riders, squirells in your
pocket - whatever. Some of the spaces have filled already.
Please
call us at the studio 970-247-2415
with your questions.
Class
is limited to 8 participants.
Please
note that the dates are preliminary and subject to change.
The
workshop is booked directly through the outfitters, here's
their link.
